Joey (Joe) Wright #29 Former Retired Pro Hockey Player.
Joey (Joe) Wright born July 31,1972 is a Canadian - American former professional ice hockey left winger / center (6'4" 260 lbs) who played professional Hockey in 5 different League (RHI,CHL,ECHL,AHL,NHL). During his 14 Pro seasons he had 748 games played. Playing in cities from Glen Falls, NY - Detroit, MI - Charlotte, NC - Chicago, IL - Bakersfield, CA and Oklahoma City, OK. Joey was a right handed but shot left, confusing is opponents when it came to dropping his gloves. Joey had over 160 fights on the ice, and some of his fights would carryover with the other players or fans in local bars after the game. Joey was part of a few (5) Championship teams in 4 different leagues (CHL,ECHL,AHL,NHL) . Joey was forced to retire due to multiple concussion.
AFTER PLAYING YEARS: Joey went on to coach High School hockey (GRAHA) in his hometown of Grand Rapids, MI and also coached a Women's professional roller derby team were he helped them win a National Roller Derby Championship in Las Vegas, NV. Joey coached College Hockey at Grand Valley State University, he was hired as the Assistant Coach and midway through the season was fired because of a on ice fight between him and the coach of the opposing team. Joey has owned a few businesses since his playing days, Sports Bar, Lawn Care, and a Trucking company for 20 years.
PERSONAL LIFE: Joey grew up in Western Michigan (Cedar Springs, MI) were he played youth Hockey in Grand Rapids and Junior Hockey in Grand Rapids and London, CA before getting drafted to play Pro hockey. Joey's Father (Fred Wright) passed away (Lung Cancer 1986) when he was 13 years old, leaving his Mother (Marg Wright) passed away (heart attack 2010) to raise him and she was his biggest fan. Joey married Actress Leslea Fisher (Now Divorced) and moved to Charlotte, NC. Where he lived with his two kids (Cole & Sofia). Joey & Jenifer now live in South West Florida area.
